Volunteer

Why Volunteer?

Many people are unaware of what volunteering can do for you, so we made a helpful list that points out a few great reasons. We’ve got inspiring art, tonnes of events, a charming gallery and gift shop and dedicated volunteers.

We always need more though. Did you know, volunteers are the lifeblood of not-for-profit societies.

Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting local artists and engaging our community in the arts. Volunteering for the Abbotsford Arts Council is a great way to meet new people, learn more about arts and culture, and support your community.

Need More Reasons?

As an Abbotsford Arts Council volunteer, you can:

  • Get involved “behind-the-scenes” at our gallery and events
  • Be the first to see new gallery exhibits
  • Meet others with similar interests
  • Get inspired by multiple genres of art
  • Teach someone something new
  • Represent your community
  • Learn new skills and enhance existing skills
  • Earn community service hours
  • Gain work experience

The Kariton Gallery is currently seeking volunteers to help with the following:

Gallery Attendants

A Gallery Attendant is present during the open hours of the gallery to greet gallery patrons, keep track of levels of attendance, and monitor the gallery and boutique.  No previous art or gallery experience is necessary; however, an interest in art would be helpful and a willingness to learn is essential. Attendants must be comfortable handling money, processing sales transactions and working in the gallery independently.
