Artist Bio
Jeongmin Ahn is an emerging Korean hyperrealist painter. He has trained professionally with Hyperrealist artists in Korea, such as Jeong-Hae Kwang, prior to pursuing his BFA, and this
experience greatly influenced the direction of his work. Like Samantha, Jeongmin’s detailed oil paintings pursue perfectionism, exploring the ability of Hyperrealism in lending power to imagery. In his ongoing projects he is pursuing concepts relating to the effects of consumerism and convenience on the ecosystem, as well as themes of vanity and privacy. His work attempts to call to attention these ideas, and speak to the human desire for control and transformation of all things, things both mundane and of great consequence. In exploring perfection in painting, he begins to understand that perfection is itself imperfect, and the pursuit of it is both
noble and corrupt. Samantha and Jeongmin’s work represent an ongoing attempt to reconcile and explore Hyperrealistic painting in its entirety, including its underlying motivations.
