Artist Statement
“The Road Less Travelled” and “Transformation” are both explorations of growth journeys borne of inner struggle and outside forces. Using oils, cold wax, dry pigment, metal leaf, and mixed-media, I work in an additive process with many layers of texture and substance to give a sense of depth. I also work in a subtractive method, scraping, scratching, using Gamsol pours, etc. to reveal what lies beneath. The process is much like a metaphor for life, building, revealing and looking back through history to forge ahead.
