Simultaneity Art Show (SAS) Digital Exhibition: Stevie Broome
Artist Statement
I am a loud and proud queer man. I’ve been out since I can remember and love everything about being part of this community. From drawing, painting, sculpture, to drag and burlesque I love getting involved in any kind creative outlet that is speaking to me. I’m highly inspired by fantasy and horror. Art is life to me and it gives life on this planet meaning.
Most of my inspiration comes from punk and goth movements. I find it has such a severe dark beauty but also can be so playful.
I was always obsessed with Tom of Finland. The over the top ridiculous body proportions really hit so many spots for me. His work was always beautiful but at the same time camp and high fantasy. Sexy and silly is the vibe to have! But my main source of inspiration would come from the American traditional tattoo style. Big bold lines, bright vibrant colors, pin ups, etc. It looks simple but is really tough to pull off in a clean way.
