Artist Statement:
Art helps me speak my mind. Art to me means opening a door and entering an entirely different realm where I have the opportunity, to explore, to have fun, to feel good, to be frustrated and not be judged, to be myself and find comfort in that. My work gives me the ability to explore issues I feel strongly about. Not finding all the answers but leaving with a sense of content With my art I try to portray social, political and cultural issues. Taking a critical look into culture, identity, diversity and community. Having a diverse background helps me connect with the various communities in Canada. My pieces display both my Bangladeshi culture as well as my Canadian culture. My paintings are semi realistic that are highly detailed and intricate. I make art that resonates with the viewer and gives them a sense of attachment as they try to navigate through the intricacy of the painting. It stands before them as an experience and aims to leave an impression.

Artist Bio:
My name is Faria Firoz. I was born and raised in Bangladesh and moved to Canada in 2016. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with double extended minor (Visual Arts & Graphic Design) from The University of the Fraser Valley with a distinction. I am the proud recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s medal 2021 and UFV Outstanding Achievement award. I completed my Advanced Levels in Arts and Design from Cambridge International Examinations.
I am a contemporary realist painter whose art practice deals with culture and identity. It takes a critical look at the ongoing social, political and cultural issues. Over the past few years, I have participated in numerous art exhibitions. My painting “Hurricane” is published in the Hebrew Learning for 8th Graders school book. I have also designed the brand identity, logo and multiple books covers for Ruddur Publications.
