Renée Campbell

The 3 colours I got in my mystery supply set were super inspiring for me – rich burnt umber, cobalt blue, and a vibrant yellow-green. I decided to go with a comic panel style for my painting, and wanted to showcase each lovely colour individually, yet in harmony & balance with one another. In the finished image, the energy coming from each panel is energetic, resilient, and poised. The electric feel of the yellow-green tennis ball is my favorite part, it really pops in juxtaposition with the muted brown tones and powder-y blues! Given the sporty vibe of this concept, I cut the mesh netting of the loofa into the shape of a tennis net overlay, and used pieces of the fuzzy pipe cleaners as little 3D sweatbands. Lastly, I added tiny accents of gold glitter to her buttons and hair, as if reflecting in sunlight. (Check my insta for close-up of detail!)
I really enjoyed this prompt to create an artwork using only the set of materials provided!
