Owlvin - Jennifer Clark

“Owlvin” Mixed Media Sculpture $60.00

Artist Statement

For me, creativity is self-care and when I am creating art I can escape from life’s experiences as a frontline worker. I haven’t always considered myself an artist, but during the pandemic I was drawn to creating daily. My artwork takes many forms and is created spontaneously according to the treasures found locally. It was when I allowed my imagination to flourish and experienced other’s enjoyment and interpretation of my work that I realized that found treasures can represent meaning and healing, and not just for me.

Artist Biography

Jennifer Clark has enjoyed a creative life here in the Fraser Valley for the last thirty years, often making and creating for friends and family. Jennifer is passionate about family, gardening and her environment. It was during the pandemic of 2020 that Jennifer’s creativity blossomed in a new way when she began upcycling household treasures into pieces of art. As a frontline worker, Jennifer uses creativity as self-care, and she draws her inspiration from her love of thrift store and flea market shopping. She is thrilled when she manages to transform old items into something new, often personalizing her art pieces to represent her buyer’s families and personalities and incorporating personal items in her pieces. Jennifer is always looking for new inspiration, but her passion currently is her “Kitchen Punk Owls” which are lovingly created with found treasures from the Fraser Valley and styled into pieces that can be enjoyed in your home and garden.
