Artist Statement:
My sculpture pays tribute to the profound bond that First Nations and all people share with their grandparents, a connection steeped in wisdom, guidance, and love.
Moshôm is the Algonquin word for Grandfather. The figure of the grandfather stands as a symbol of enduring strength and protection, watching over his family with a watchful eye and a heart filled with generations of knowledge. This piece reflects the invaluable role that grandparents play in preserving traditions, passing down cultural heritage, and nurturing the spirit of the community. It is a testament to the enduring legacy of wisdom and love that flows from one generation to the next, embodying the timeless embrace of ancestral guidance that continues to shape the lives and spirits of First Nations and all people.
