Artist Statement

Being open minded towards art is a key factor to my creativity. My pieces are diverse in the medium, style and technique. Which allows them to be distinctly unique from each other. Created with etching ink and acrylic paint, I want to showcase the beauty in our surroundings. “mono” is a project where I incorporated mandarin netting and pear foam wrapping to create an eccentric pattern and texture. The process of creating this allowed me to explore my ability to design abstract, organic forms without an outline.  I hope to inspire others to experiment and explore different concepts of art to create unique pieces.

Artist Biography

Kayla Nguyen is an Abbotsford based visual artist with a keen eye for precise characteristics that has emerged from a young age. Taking part in the W.J. Mouat 2020 Artisan Market has allowed her to become actively engaged within the community with these applied skills. From her meticulous consideration of detail to her admirable perseverance, Nguyen has grown to create a variety of media that utilizes her distinct styles, techniques, and mediums. All while embracing simplicity, her works have embodied significant value of experience and knowledge gained from an innate admiration in creating.
