Artist Statement:
Medicine Bear incorporates jade with Yellow Cedar dust. This sculpture is connected, by the Yellow Cedar dust, to another sculpture Thunder Child which is at the UBC Indigenous Garden. Medicine Bear is in a resting position to signal the importance of the bears season to hibernate. The winter season is also the season for humans to be inside around the fire and sharing histories.
