Artist Statement:
Growing up here in the Fraser Valley, I find I am always cold. I loathe the cold, so naturally my happiest times are summer days spent soaked in warmth, usually near a beach. I hope that my beach art transports the viewer to that same headspace that I feel when recreating my memories into each piece…happy, calm, serene and peaceful. Creating my abstract pieces feels freeing. There are no rules with which I must conform, so I feel unbound by the constraints of life and my relentless perfectionism when I am creating in this way.

Artist Bio:
Art has always been my escape and my stress-release. I’m happiest when I’m creating. I took a big leap in the Fall of 2019 and left a 20 year career teaching Kindergarten/Grade 1 to accept a position to teach high school art at my community school. I am loving helping the next generation explore new techniques and develop their talents. I’ve also been back in my little studio, studying and learning new techniques and creating unique paintings, functional art like cheese boards and bread boards with resin accents, and more recently, ocean-inspired jewelry. I hope you love them as much as I love making them.
