Artist Statement

My work addresses the broad themes of body and identity—more specifically their relation to femininity and womanhood. I’m interested in the interaction between modern beauty ideals/objectification and the ramifications they can have on the development of the self.

Artist Biography

Kendra Schellenberg grew up in the Fraser Valley and has been painting for as long as she can remember. She graduated from the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at UFV in 2016, with a Major in Visual Arts and an Extended Minor in Creative Writing. Her work spans multiple mediums to explore themes of identity and body in today’s media-driven culture.
