Artist Statement

I became interested in photography in the mid 1980’s. I am primarily self-taught in that I have taken numerous workshops and seminars as well as participating in the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club for 30 years. In 2005 I purchased my first digital camera and I have not looked back since. I have taken courses in Photoshop as it is necessary to not only be a photographer but the producer of my work as well.
Now that I am retired I have had a little more time to hone my craft further. I am attempting to produce fine art pieces rather than mere documentation. I take inspiration from artists like Roy Henry Vickers and more recently a photographer by the name of Josh Adamski I also like to work with bold colours and / or strong black and whites as you will see in the sample of my work. I strive to be a contemporary photographer and I hope to provide something a little different.
