Carlos Arredondo

An Abstract State of Mind
Artist Statement

After years of working as an Engineer and Lean Six Sigma practitioner I have decided to retake a delightful activity that is painting. Different situations in my life have put me back in the path of creating art and making paintings. My exhibition is an exploration of myself and my interaction with art. We are not entirely unique; we are a reflection of circumstances and experiences that happen in our life. My paintings portray collections of moments and experiences that I have encountered in my last year of life. My paintings have an influence of different artists and different techniques. It is hard to find similarities in my paintings, what is common in my paintings are the colors.  Colors are powerful, they can speak on behalf of you…

Biography

Carlos Arredondo is a Mexican born and self-taught artist. “Art allows me to see the world in different perspectives. Creating through my paintings gives me satisfaction and accomplishment. Every piece that I create has a bit of my soul and my heart.”

Each painting that he creates is hand crafted by manipulating layers of different mediums and using different techniques. “I would like to say that I know what the result would be, but that is not really my case, I just let myself go with the intimacy of the moment when I am painting.”

As an immigrant and being exposed to different environments, Carlos uses the paintings to express thoughts and feelings, this is the reason why you can find a contrast of colors in his work. At the end, he always finds love and beauty in life. Carlos is living in Vancouver where also works as an Engineer. He enjoys outdoor activities and discovering  new communities and different social groups.
