Call for Visual Artists!

Thank you for your interest in participating in this exciting event! 

The Abbotsford Arts Council is producing an online music festival this coming winter! Musical groups, 2D and 3D artists will be featured. We are seeking artists to produce a poster for each group’s performance as well as artists to create a set design collaboratively with the musical group, filmmaker and other artists.  

Assignment 

The musical group, filmmaker, poster artist and set designer/installation artist will work together to develop a theme for the performance. The poster will be used for promotion and thematically align with the musical group’s style and set design for the performance.

Poster Artists – please send a web link with samples of your existing work (or portfolio), CV and a cover letter explaining how you would approach this situation and your development process. Any medium. 

Set Designers/Installation Artists – please send a web link with examples of your work (or portfolio), CV and a cover letter explaining how you would approach this opportunity and what your approach will be. 

Applications that include a brief description of intended medium and loose framework for their approach will be given greater consideration, though plans may change depending on the assigned musical group/artists. 

Deadline Extended!

Artist application deadline – October 14th, 2020,  5 p.m. PST

Format

Poster 11×18  – any medium that can be printed/distributed digitally. 

Set Design/I – Cover a 10 foot space, free standing, must be able to potentially recreate at a later date in February. 

Notification

If you are selected you will be notified by October 5th, 2020. At that time, further information on requirements, specifications and a formal Letter of Agreement will be provided. 

Rights

The Abbotsford Arts Council will own all artwork created, however, the artists may use any pieces produced for this assignment while acknowledging Jam in Jubilee – Winter Edition.  

Compensation

Poster artist – $250 flat fee

Set Designer/Installation Artists – $400 flat fee with $200 negotiable production budget (extra material costs covered upon approved rationale). This fee must cover all production costs and will be paid upon half up front and remaining upon completion of the project.
