Artist Statement:
The processes and skills I acquired as a student and an educator revolved largely around costly facilities and equipment; in dark-rooms, with printing presses, using toxic materials. Having children and aging made me aware of the toxic and costly nature of my processes. My work has become simpler, smaller and less demanding in resources as a result. My recent work is drawing from photographs, using my imagination to elaborate with marks that smudge, blend and redefine spaces in nature and at home. I am drawing with an instinctive and energetic pleasure that comes from experience and acceptance. It is my goal to create beautiful visual spaces for the viewer to rest and find value in their own experience.

Artist Bio:
Madeleine Sauvé is an award winning visual artist with formal training in printmaking. After 10+ years teaching studio art Madeleine made a shift to work in BCs film & tv industry. The change from academic to decorative workplaces is seen in her brightly coloured drawings. The combination of blended chalk, pastel and graphite create moments of reflection and rejuvenation that we can all use in these uncertain times.
