Artist Statement:
One part of a six part series. These painted and drawn figures show society’s views on certain body types therefore the colours and the background get “uglier” and more filled in relative to what media portrays as less desirable proportions. The more “ideal” body types are somewhat normal, pleasant colours whereas in those where the women’s bodies gets thin or thicker the colours tend to fade or explode, representing the opinions society has on these types of bodies and potentially how these words affects these beautiful women. I have always had a lot of interest in drawing and painting nude figures and when I got a chance to create these beautiful and meaningful artworks I couldn’t resist.
