Artist Statement:
“EARTH scapes”
My “EARTH scapes” series reflects on environmental concerns and addresses our relationship to the natural world. If you look closely at the surface it is full of gouges and scars which are
my way of portraying the damage that we are doing to our planet by not using sustainable practices. Despite our abuse there is incredible resilience and beauty however it is time to stop pushing past the point of no return. My hope is that my landscapes will invite the viewer to
think not only about their impact on their immediate environment but to inspire a greater respect for the earth.

Artist Bio

Barb Pearson resides and works on her organic farm in Langley, BC. As a conceptual painter she addresses both current social and environmental issues in her work.

An experimental painter, Pearson allows her process to direct where she goes with the painting, creating a fluid practice that is completely unpredictable. Her work is a multitude of layers; surfaces are constructed and then deconstructed numerous times revealing what lays beneath and creating a work that is full of character. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and sold to collectors in both Canada and internationally.
