Artist Statement:
This piece is part of an ongoing oil on canvas series I began at the beginning of last March although it addresses themes that have been present throughout much of my work and life. The different ways people process and interpret sensory input has intrigued me for a long time, but it wasn’t until I started looking at the unique ways that I do this that I realized how it influences not only my creative process but how I engage in and respond to the environment and people in my everyday life.

Artist Bio:
Jennifer Shepit is a painter in Western British Columbia, living in Abbotsford, with her husband and son, working from a home studio. She works primarily in oil and watercolour, and is excited to experiment with new media. She is inspired by her every day surroundings, nature, people, and music. Her current work has been an exploration of how we each experience our own unique inner world of senses and memory processing. She appreciates how paint, colour, and movement allow her to speak without words
