Artist Statement

This self portrait is meant to show my joy and strength. The snake plant is my favourite plant in my classroom and at home as they clean our air 24 hours a day and keeps the indoor space healthier and more beautiful. The smell of its dirt lifts our mood. The red blood cells represent my ongoing issue with anemia -a common problem for many women. Here I am, anemic but thriving!

Artist Bio

Susannah White is an art teacher in Abbotsford. she makes art partly for her own well-being and partly to inspire her students, friends and family. Susannah attended UFV and UBC where she learned more about art making, its history and impact on the world.
