Artist Statement:
I paint intuitively using my love of organic forms, texture and with colour that is not always true to life. My aim is to capture the imagination of the viewer, perhaps encouraging them to see what we are honoured to have in this world and want to preserve it. As someone who is concerned with environmental issues , my hope is to bring awareness to the beauty of nature and recognition of the inherent value of all we have in this wondrous world. Value for even simple things that might be ‘hiding in plain sight’. I want my art to encourage those who view it to then look more enquiringly at the world around them. As we endure this pandemic I am struck by the freedom of birds . My series called “Hiding in Plain Sight” tries to capture that freedom. I can only imagine the joy birds feel as they ‘fly’ on with their lives while we can merely watch. I wish to share that joy with you through my paintings.
