Artist Statement:
Over the last few years, I have reevaluated what truly brings me joy. This has allowed me to regain my love of painting and develop a role as a practicing artist. I am interested in the use of colour and how it can magnify a piece in many diverse ways. For myself, vibrancy takes me to a place of fantasy and nostalgia. The pieces I create are representations of memories and imaginative places that evoke calm, peace and happiness. I have newly discovered a passion for crossover art by combining drawing and painting to create a desired outcome. Developing new design concepts and techniques has brought meaning and purpose to my life. Seeing a clear direction into creative freedom has reenergized my soul, leaving only the chatter of imagination and the warmth of fulfillment to accompany me on my journey.

Artist Bio:
Toni Carlson is a painter, business owner and lives in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Art has always been a part of her upbringing with her grandmother and father working as practicing artists which ultimately lead her to her interest and discovery of fine art. After completing her Diploma in General Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley Toni rediscovered her love for fine art and decided to continue on with her education by enrolling in the Bachelor of General Studies with an Extended Minor in Visual Arts at the University of the Fraser Valley. While attending courses Toni participated in two gallery exhibitions at the S’eliyemetaxwtexw Art Gallery. Over the years of creating new pieces, Toni has received many inquiries to create work for others to display in their homes and businesses which has inspired her to start her own fine art business.
