Artist Statement:
Black pine’s natural distribution is in the Mediterranean region, but you will find black pine everywhere in Southern BC.  It is hardy and tolerates vehicle exhaust along roadways. If the bark is not black with a coating of exhaust, it has the most beautiful bark of all pines.
