Artist Statement

To reach behind the individuals and scenes I paint, to discover the essence in the present, to create a special excitement in the heart of the viewer, and to share the experience, is the avenue to my passion.

Artist Biography

Educated in British Columbia, Irene is self taught in portrait and landscape painting with a focus in watercolour & acrylics. Since 1999, Irene undertook further studies in watercolour under Elsie Grace, College of the late Desert Hall of Fame teacher. Further studies continued under the tutelage of the late Jack Rowe, a member of Watercolour West, and a Member of the National Academy of Design, who, also, studied under other well known artists. Expanding adventure, education, workshops and experience, she also developed a special watercolour technique known as Sepia Washout. Having received several awards including Artist of the Year in 2011 and Artists’ Choice in 2017, her many extensive exhibits include Royal Bank of Canada, HSBC Bank, Duo exhibits: Mother and Daughter and with Robert McCarthy, St Paul’s Fishing Resort, Labrador, Quebec, Annual Spring Shows with the Fraser Valley Watermedia Society, & many exhibits in galleries in the Vancouver and Lower Mainland area.
