Alexis Johnston
My main inspiration for this work comes from the bath sponge after it was cut and unravelled. The forms created from this material was unique and exciting, as it had a lot of movement about it. From that, I began emulating some of that movement through my brushwork on the canvas with the paint materials and the glitter. Finally, I used the rigid forms of the plant ring and the pipe cleaners to frame the work on the canvas, propping them with the canvas in a still.
