Shannon Thiesen

I was reading Van Gogh: The Life and decided to try to recreate my favourite of his self-portraits using the materials given. Since Vincent used tons of yellow and blue in his paintings, and I only had orange and green, I knew it would be a challenge. Nevertheless, I am pleased with the results.

I used glitter in the background, washi tape on the collar and border, pipe cleaner and glue in his hair and I unravelled the shower pouf to make thread to sign his name.

The only material I was given that I didn’t use was the plant ring. This was a fun challenge! I’m excited to bring this activity into my classroom and see what my students come up with.
