Blue Raspberry of Sharon - SOLD
Acrylic on Canvas
12″ x 12″
Artist Statement:
I am drawn to dramatic curves and leading lines – but thrive on the challenge of showcasing rich colours and glowing light. At first it was the juicy colours of these local hibiscus that caught my eye (hence the fruity titles). Upon setting them in a jar, I noticed the velvety texture of the light raking across the petals, and the way the light shining through the glass and water created worlds, swirls and flares of drama. I have offered several views of this small bloom in a simple vessel, zoomed to fill the canvas, so the viewer may share that experience.
