Artist Statement:
When I began my painting career, in 1998, I was amazed at how quickly I had been captured by the world of art and lured into it’s secret paths to paint life as I saw it.
Painting became such a passion for me which invoked a deep desire to capture scenes from all walks of life that could be used for my artistic expressions.
Be it still life, florals, animals, people or landscapes, from brushes to palette knives, the whole world became alive; I could hardly wait to start creating my stories.
Colours took on different meanings and lights and darks became teachers, in and of themselves.
I felt I had so many stories to paint and the challenge to be able to speak through my artwork was immeasurable…
Artist Bio:
Reet has been interested in visual arts since the ’70’s. She has enjoyed working with oil pastels, pen and ink, pencil sketching and acrylics. In 1998, when she was introduced to oils, she was “hooked”. She found that creating a painting with a medium such as this was truly a joy and, to this day, she is continually delighted with her choice.
Since Reet has expanded her horizons to oil painting, she is always inspired and challenged to create, with a paintbrush or palette knife, what she has loved to photograph. Her artwork reflects the deep creative side of her and this can be seen through the diversity of her subjects that have captured her heart and soul.
Reet is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, the FCA-Fraser Valley Chapter and the South Surrey and White Rock Art Society. She has shown her artwork in many of their venues and Juried Shows. Her artworks can be found in many private collections throughout Canada and Europe.
