Meet the artists
Gail Steel
Artist Statement & Bio:
Gail Steel is a long time resident of Abbotsford, BC who grew up in Vancouver and Burnaby, BC. She began painting to counteract the effects of chronic migraine pain, the goal being to transform down time into productive results that would seek to generate comfort and an encouraging spirit to others.
Add to that, a PTSD healing journey and the result is a heart that seeks to touch and uplift like-minded souls.
Gail’s preferred media include pastel (both soft and oil) and acrylics. She also incorporates water-soluble materials such as Inktense and coloured pencil. She is lifted by vibrant colour.
Comments on her pet portraits are generally of tearful gratitude, that her paintings transcend photos and becomes treasured keepsakes of beloved fur babies. Gail has also done family portraits in pastel producing similar results.
She appreciates the loving support of her friends and community. You can follow her on Instagram and Facebook at “Gail’s Art Spa” and the “Gail’s Art Spa Group”, where you can catch a glimpse of what is currently on her easel.
You can also visit her gallery (appointment only) by contacting her via e-mail at: [email protected]
