Artist Statement:
Fun is in my nature. I often feel like a child that aged but never grew up. I continue to delight in new discoveries, and revel in moments of ridiculousness. Nature and creativity are the things that ground me, whenever I feel lost or stuck. I need only seek them out to find myself again and return to the little girl filled with dreams, and the middle-aged woman who has been able to live many of them. This collection of fabric collage embroideries offers my appreciation for the lives and lands that inspire me, and offering a sense of wonder and whimsy.

Artist Bio:
Alison Chisholm has dedicated her life to the arts. After growing up in Hamilton, Ontario, her passion for the arts took her to Montreal to study theatre and arts administration at Concordia University. She moved out west for a year long apprenticeship as part of her schooling, and never left. She has enjoyed a career in the arts in BC ever since. While primarily an arts administrator, Alison has also maintained her own artistic interests by writing, acting and self- producing, performing musical improv, choral singing, and more recently dabbling in visual and fibre arts. Since moving to Abbotsford in 2020, she was eager to find opportunities to get involved in the local arts community and has been privileged to showcase some of her embroideries at the Kariton Art Gallery and Cru Studios.
