Artist Statement:
This piece represents mental health. The cat is different, it doesn’t look like other cats. I want to portray beauty, positivity, and hope. Mental health is an invisible injury.. I am not my illness I am alive with color and vibrancy.
Artist Bio:
I suffered a serious head injury from a fall in November 2016. I discovered the art of painting as a form of healing. I have been painting now for 6 years and I enjoy challenging myself using various mediums from acrylic to watercolor and charcoal drawing. My art is very raw and is done in an impressionist style. Each piece is a story. I have tried painting and drawing landscapes and a variety of animals. I look forward to sketching portraits soon. I never painted at all before my injury so it really is a blessing to have this gift. I continue to learn and grow as an artist. I am inspired by the creative works of others.
