Artist Statement:
The rain and accumulation of water from the storm with a little bit of sunlight hope coming through the clouds surrounds our precious Fraser Valley. The mountains in the distance ground us with the knowledge that we can expect another bumper crop of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries during the summer months. Made mostly with an orbital sander.
High quality acrylic paint is my choice of medium to express my innermost feelings and emotions. Painting is the utmost joy for me – freedom from the everyday pressures and expectations allowing myself to be wild and free.
I make spirited and edgy multimedia abstract artwork that will excite your senses and bring a warmth into the places you live and work.
Through the use of texture, multi layering, collage and mark making my artwork invites you through a door into nature and the west coast ocean and mountains of Canada.
Artist Bio:
I am a contemporary abstract artist who works in mixed media and is self taught. My love of colour, shape, mark making and design has taken me into the world of fashion design and production and now painting.
Originally from Southern Ontario, Canada, I have been living in Abbotsford, BC (just outside Vancouver, BC) for 16 years after spending many years in Calgary, Alberta
After a career in social work and raising my 2 daughters I could no longer resist the urge to create. It had been with me my whole life and in February 2020 during the Covid lockdown it once again emerged.
It is this artform where I can use my imagination to portray a visual expression of my deepest feelings and emotions which I find very healing and therapeutic. I am inspired by nature – the mountains and ocean of the west coast of Canada fascinate me.
I hope my art pulls you in so you can reflect and recall your own times of happiness and joy.
