Artist Statement:
Claude Monet once said, “Colour is my daylong obsession, joy and torment,” which resonated with me, as I too
understand the joy of creation, yet the torment it causes when one must sacrifice their self for it. Obsession is a blessing and a curse. I chose to depict him with an impressionist inspired background, to pay homage to his work- but keeping him as the focus. The audience puts so much value on the work itself it chooses to forget it is a human who made it.
The work is an extension of the artist, not a separate entity. With this piece I remember and pay respect to the artist, as a person.
Artist Bio
Art has been my passion since a young age. I am thankful to have been raised in a family that recognized my desire to pursue art and supported me with lessons to help my artistic ability to bloom. I have taken private lessons in watercolour since I was very young, and have also had the opportunity to take a course on hyperrealistic drawing under a traditional art master. I have lived in Abbotsford, British Columbia my entire life, and have been involved in the artistic community as an art instructor. I am now pursuing a career in tattooing. My other passions include literature, sciences and travelling. Art has always been the most influential part of my life and I am excited to continue to pursue an artistic career and lifestyle.
