The Abbotsford Arts Council is pleased to announce our upcoming show at the Kartion Art Gallery: "Christina Lake Series" and "Metallic Drawing Series," works in mixed media by local artist Kristin Krimmel.
The "Christina Lake Series" is a celebration of clouds in which Krimmel tries to capture the "dynamic passion of the sky" she witnessed while vacationing at an isolated cabin on Christina Lake in 2002.
In the "Metallic Drawing Series," Krimmel uses metallic inks, graphite and an occasional bit of watercolour to find new ways of expression, much like "a scientist explores the known to be able to discover new concepts." This body of work includes drawings of landscapes as well as drawings in which she expresses a acerbic sense of humour about the world around us, commenting on things as diverse as corporation's fads and fashions, the construction industry and socio-politics.
Kristin Krimmel is a practicing artist with an exhibiting history spanning four decades. She taught at the Emily Carr College of Art & Design (now EC University) for six years and possesses a life interest in the creation of art.
